Kol Ami, The Northern Virginia Reconstructionist Community |

Kol Ami Parents:
We are delighted that you plan to enroll your child/children in our Hebrew School program. Over the last few years, we ran a Hebrew School program for our Pre B’nei Mitzvah age children. This year we will take the exciting step of adding another section for our 6 to 9 year olds and we will move the program back to the UUCA. Please see below for all the pertinent details of school (e.g. teacher bios, class schedule, etc).
Registration: To register your child, please contact Hope Warshaw at kolamichildren@yahoogroups.com, and complete the Hebrew School Registration form.
Teachers:
Mike Jawer will teach the 6 to 9 year olds.
Get to know Mike…
“I love being around children (including my own, Gabrielle age 7 and Bradley nearly 5). My teaching experiences include three years as a B'nai/B'not Mitzvah instructor for Temple Micah and teaching at Congregation Adath Jeshurun, the Conservative synagogue outside of Philadelphia in which I grew up. I am familiar with the Reconstructionist movement as my younger sister, Anne Jawer, was ordained by the movement four years ago. My 'day job' is with the U.S. General Services Administration. I live with my spouse, Bonnie Wald, and the aforementioned two kids (plus three cats) in Vienna.”
Fee:
There will be a charge of $300, regardless of the number of children enrolled. All families enrolling must have at least 1 dues paying member of Kol Ami.
Parent Participation:
There will be an expectation that parents will be available to help out where needed at some points during the school year, whether in the classroom or with bringing/ordering the Shabbat ritual items or food.
Class Dates:
The following are the dates Hebrew School will be held during the 2006-2007 school year. We follow the schedules of the Hebrew calendar for holiday celebrations, and the schedules of the Arlington and Fairfax County for determining dates when Hebrew School WILL NOT be held. Each week a parent will be asked to assist the teachers, bring challah, and set up for the ritual held after class. Please see the Parent Volunteer Dates for additional information.
